2Chronicles 7:13-14 –
If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
The idea of worshipping God in a building is man made , it was never Gods intention for men to congragate inside structures and the man who came up with idea was King David after completion of his palace so to get a better understanding of whats expected of us in those buildings we need to take alook at the conversation between God and David and that between Solomon and God at the temples completion. God asked David ,”did i ask of you to build me a temple” meaning he was content with the arc being housed in a tent and people meeting outside for from the beginning he was concerned with hearts coming together not just physical.presence. He later tells him that his son solomon would build the temple for he will not have blood on his hands and rewards David with promising him an heir of his to always be on the throne. Fast foward to the above chapter in which God is replying to Solomons pledge in the 6th chapter. After showing himself in a heaviness of clouds and mist at the sacrifices of solomon he then tells the people what to expect when the come before him in the temple. The 1st thing to note from chapter 6 is that the temple is a place of sacrifice as evidenced by Gods approval at solomons offerings. The above verse shows us that the temple is a place of being unburdened of the perils of this life like perstilence (covid 19) , famines and lack of rain. So as much as therapists have taken up this role too believers ought to go to the temple where he said he will cause his name to reside and cast their burdens unto him. In that same vein the temple is a place of repentance and being reconciled once again to Christ Jesus. So in summary the temple was mearnt as a place of meeting ie God getting to liase and interface with his children and everything else being done now is abuse of the temple. No wonder Jesus chased people from the temple in matthew 21:13 & declared it a place of prayer. I have noticed people using that period before commencement of the service and their arrival as a time to chat and check up on it other or do bussiness instead of using the time to worship and interact with the father which is the reason that building stands in the 1st place . In conclusion beloveds i urge us not to abuse that which David mearnt for good
