We walk the plan rather than plan the walk; these words were said to me more than ten years ago and I feel they are critical to every believer in their walk with Christ. Once you know that he orders the steps of the righteous or that every decision you make opens or precipitates a preset chain of events you would be more careful with your decisions. You are only a few decisions away from your destination or destruction and one good decision made in 2021 may alter how your grandchildren will think of you ie will they call you ancestral spirits denying them progress or will they like the samaritan woman point out to the well left to them by their ancestors. Today I seek to highlight 4 things we need to be aware of before making a commitment to something. Never make an important decision when your emotions are high ie during grief , anger or anxiety and never allow fear , hunger or fatigue be the driving forces in your life. It is rumoured that one of the wealthiest man in the world Warren Buffet does not make a decision after 1500hrs for he perceives his mind will be tired. Whether its true or not is irrelevant but what Im driving at is know when the body is tired and be wary of making crucial decisions during that time for usually you will give in easily because you just want to get it over with. If you a fan of detective films you know its one of the reasons confessions made after 24hrs of interogation are thrown away in courts of law. Any emotion that makes your blood boil hinders clear and concise reasoning, in his anger Moses struck the rock in Numbers 20:11 and denied himself entrance into the promised land. The stomatch is not a good organ to allow yourself to be guided by for it just seeks immediate satisfaction. If you had the chance to talk to Esau and Naomi today they would both tell you they rue the day they permitted hunger to make decisions in their lives. Esau lost his birthright and Naomi lost her husband and children whilst seeking bread in a foreign land imagine. The last emotion I would like do highlight is fear, Saul lost his kingdom in 1Samuel 13 because he grew scared that samuel might not arrive in time for the sacrifice. Fear makes us rash and reduces our level of faith and trust in God. Because of his fear of Saul , David went and made a pact with Achish the king of Gath an enemy of Israel. My prayer is for God to help you recognise when emotions are hindering you from hearing him and may his holy spirit calm you down if such a situation arises.
