Psalm 139 : 16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written,The days fashioned for me,When as yet there were none of them.

Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified[a] you;]ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah 29:11  For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon ’em- the 12th night

Every time I dare to contemplate about the issue of predestination and freewill the above line from Shakespeare’s twelfth night comes to mind , are some people really great from birth like no matter what life throws at them they will be great and the opposite like will someone be destined to be poor  . Do humans walk a paved plan or we are actually permitted to plan our walk on this earth . Matt Damon stars in a movie called Adjustment Bureau which taps into the idea that God has a grand plan for each and everyone and has angels running around influencing the decisions and the path we take on earth. I mean even scripture is rout with situations where it seems God already had his plan and the characters where just pawns in his chess game, are we really just dancing to the piper here. I have often asked my self why did God have to harden pharaoh’s heart when the Israelites wanted to leave Egypt or since Judas betrayal was prophesied by the prophets of old did he really have a say in his actions if it was set in stone from the start. The flip side of predestination is freewill, and the story of the first people seems to underline it , it seems as if they had a choice …God gave them options. But it also muddies the pot a little because if Eve really came out of Adam’s rib does it imply that the romantics got it right when they postulate the idea of THE ONE. Today’s scriptures though provide irrefutable proof that God has a grand plan for us for he tells Jeremiah that he ordained him a prophet whilst he was in the womb implying that no matter what that boy was going to prophecy and the psalmist echoes it by talking about our days being written before they have even occurred and what of this expected ending that Jeremiah talks about in chapter 29. Well brothers and sisters I believe that God has a blueprint of how we should traverse this earth but does not frogmarch us on that path , he has afforded us the freedom to choose. Just like how Jesus was destined to die for our sins but in the garden as his flesh got the better of him he asked if the yoke could not be allowed to pass or how Samson was destined to liberate the Israelites but his freewill nearly led him astray. I honestly think God has a bigger picture for all of us and its to give us an expected ending but I also believe he allows us to navigate through it how ever we want. A scripture comes to mind which sums it up for me well, it says all things are permissible for us but not all things are good for us …well those are my two thoughts on the subject what do you think?

Only the wise know just where predestination ends and free will begins. Meanwhile, you must keep on doing your best, according to your own clearest understanding. you must long for freedom as the drowning man longs for air. Without sincere longing, you will never find God– Paramahansa Yogananda
